eternal sunshine of the spotless livejournal

Hi.

After almost nine years on LiveJournal, I've decided to make my journal friends only. This means that in order to read my entries, you'll need to have a LiveJournal account.1 Please feel to friend me at will; I've locked my journal for professional reasons, not because I dislike the idea of new people reading it. I don't check my user info page very often, so I'm more likely to friend you back quickly if you comment in this post.

1. Or you can get an OpenID, which is basically a stable URL that will allow me to add you to my friends list, so long as you comment on this post while signed in. You can read more about how OpenIDs work with LiveJournal here.

on a death, long anticipated

The thing is, I don't feel happy. Or relieved, or any of the multitude of emotions I imagine might be appropriate for a moment like this. Instead I'm sitting in the dark, my ceiling fan on high, and I'm crying a little and looking at the clock and knowing I'll have to be up for work in about six hours, and I really don't know why I'm crying-- except maybe I'm crying for a Tuesday when I was eighteen, three weeks into college, and the sky was so blue.
